Neurology Consultation Service

The Neurology Consultation Service at McLean Hospital provides comprehensive evaluation and follow-up to individuals with complex neurologic disorders. The service, staffed by trained specialists in adult and pediatric neurology, offers on-site laboratory services, neuropsychology diagnostic testing, EEG (electroencephalogram) equipment and state-of-the-art MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) facilities. The service is a key component of McLean Hospital's Department of Neurology, which is affiliated with Massachusetts General Hospital and is a major training site for psychiatry and neurology residents and neuropsychology fellows at Harvard Medical School.

The Neurology Consultation Service serves individuals with a myriad of conditions, including Alzheimer's disease and other dementias; Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders; seizures, including complex partial seizures; traumatic brain injury; confusional states; strokes; atypical psychiatric syndromes; developmental syndromes, including attention deficit disorder; learning disabilities; mental retardation; multiple sclerosis; brain infections, and brain tumors.

Bruce H. Price, MD, chief of neurology and assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, specializes in neuropsychiatry and cognitive and behavioral neurology that involve the interface between neurology, psychiatry, neurosurgery, neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience.

Dr. Price and his staff provide prompt and comprehensive consultation, as well as all necessary testing, at McLean's Belmont campus. A complete consultation report is available to individuals and their referring physicians. Referrals for continuing treatment are also provided.

The Department of Neurology at McLean Hospital is an important site for research in neuropsychiatry and serves as a component of the Harvard Center for Neurodegeneration and Repair. The center, funded by the largest gift ever received by Harvard Medical School in a single pledge, is a collaborative venture among Beth Israel/Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham & Women's Hospital, Children's Hospital Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, McLean Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.
