Research Revenue (2008)

March 31st, 2008

The Partners Research Revenue Report for the Month Ending March, 2008, reflects the continuing NIH funding challenges to McLean's research mission. Fiscal year-to-date, our direct research revenue is $431,000 ahead of budget and is running 3.2 % ahead of this point last year. Indirect revenue however, particularly important to the hospital's budget, is ($403,000) behind this point in the last fiscal year, and is showing a continuation of the previous year's erosion, being ($520,000) behind budget. This is reflective of an ongoing shift in funding, as researchers attempt to make up federal shortfalls by seeking funding through agencies that don't pay full indirect cost (foundations, clinical trials, etc) as well as a decision by Research Administration earlier this fiscal year to accrue against anticipated grant funding deficits.
